I have used two Xzoga jigging rods: 1) Taka-SA S500-170 500g PE6-PE10 Max Drag 20KG. 2) BlackBuster BB-59S 300g PE4-6 Max Drag 15KG. Both performed as expected with the stated specs. It's been very busy fishing around and I finally can post report of tuna popping trip in Panama in May. I fished on 110' luxurious mothership of Panama Sport Fishing Lodge. I've been fishing Panama about 10 times and I think this trip is the best as far as tuna popping is concerned. I use the Plano Jumbo airliner as well. The biggest factor for me is the wheels. Love that it expands so easily. I actually put my two piece rods together, bundle them all up and expand the tube.Generally, the boat will try to do most of the work to get the fish off the rocks in the initial moments of the hookup, but stouter rod and line would be mandatory. World Cat is a Semi-Displacement hull and is faster. Glacier bay is a 100% Displacement Hull and is slower, but the ride is slightly better. Do a 24 hr overnight trip tuna trip out of Port A next fall. The boat runs are much shorter than the 36-60 hr trips. Granted you'll probably only catch blackfin tuna vs the bigger yellowfin but its a good way to learn. About Time Team. Pull the solid into the hollow 3' and pull a foot of Solid out the side wall at the end of the splice. This isn't needed for strength but is used to form a safety. Tie the Uni safety an inch beyond where the solid exits the splice. Bury a 1/2" tag from the Uni safety knot back into the JB.The fish isnt goin to die because it has a treble in its mouth apposed to a single hook. You might have a better hookset with a single hook AT TIMES, but your going to get more chances to set the hook with the treble. And they don't bend like we like a rod to bend.very few (if any) of the nicer rods on the market are on solid blanks. Glass has traditionally been known to be stronger than graphite or carbon fiber.The biggest targeted species are amberjack and snapper with a possible grouper here and there, up to 70 lbs.
